Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

  •  Grade12 Precalculus  or  Grade12 Principles of Mathematics 
Admission to an Associate of Science degree program requires the completion of English 12 with a grade of "C" or higher and Pre-calculus 12 or Principles of Math 12 with a grade of “C+” or higher. Other prerequisites depend on the courses chosen to make up the degree, and should be determined with the advice of a Selkirk College counsellor. Students who lack the admission requirements may still gain admission to the program by taking a combination of university and upgrading courses during the first year. This mode of entry may extend the length of their program.

Test Scores:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 213] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.0] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 79-80]
Application Notes : If your first language is not English, you must meet the following English Language Proficiency requirements for entry in to Selkirk College University Transfer, Diploma or Degree programs: completion of BC English 12, or equivalent; or completion, with a grade of "C+" or better, advanced core courses in the Selkirk College English Language Program and Provincial Level English 51; or submission of a TOEFL score of 213 (computer) or ibt 79-80 or better; or submission of an IELTS score of 6.0 or better; or submission of an EIKEN Grade Pre -1; or submission of an acceptable score on the Language Proficiency Index score of 4 or better. For Indian students coming through the SPP program, the IELTS requirement for diploma programs is 6.0 with no band less than 5.5.
