Program Information

School:Seneca College
Faculty:Newnham
Degree:Diploma; Co-op; Advanced
Field of Study:Civil Engineering Technology/Technician
Description:Your studies will be grounded in the skills and knowledge that are most important to employers. They include: advanced computer software packages (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit); new developments in highway design and building information modeling (Civil 3D); Geographic Information Systems (GIS); municipal and building design; environmental assessment; construction inspection, supervision and management; and field skills in surveying, as well as soils and materials testing. The CVT program provides an intensive learning experience at the second and third year levels. You’ll work independently and in teams; produce a comprehensive, professional technology report by the end of the program; and demonstrate progression towards becoming a professional engineering technologist.

Students meeting all academic requirements may have the opportunity to complete an optional co-op work term(s) in a formal work environment. In most cases the work term(s) is a full-time paid position completed between two academic semesters. In programs with limited co-op opportunities, additional academic requirements and a passing grade on a communication assessment may be required for eligibility. Eligibility for participation does not guarantee a work position will be secured. Additional fees are required for those participating in the optional co-op stream regardless of success in securing a work position.
