Description:Over the past two decades, new quantitative techniques have transformed the investor decision-making process and the financial industry. Today, banks, insurance companies, securities, and investment firms turn to technical innovation to gain the competitive advantage. Sophisticated mathematical models are used to support investment decisions, to develop and price new securities, or to manage risk.

Financial institutions, in addition to energy companies, utilities, and corporations with exposure to exchange rate or commodities risk, are hiring quantitatively sophisticated employees. Learn financial modelling with state of the art computing facilities with the most current statistical software at Western.

You can complete this program as part of a Bachelor or Honours Bachelor degree. Registration in the honours degree usually begins in the second year, but admission may be gained in the third or fourth year if you meet requirements.

  •  Grade12 English (ENG4U) 
  •  Grade12 Calculus and Vectors 

Two of: Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Math of Data Management (MDM4U), Physics (SPH4U), Earth and Space Sciences (SES4U), Computer and Information Science (ICS4U). You'll need Biology SBI4U and Chemistry SCH4U for first-year Biology and Chemistry courses. First-year Biology and Chemistry courses are required for all modules offered by the Department of Biology and for some modules offered by the Department of Chemistry and other Science departments. All course prerequisites are for an Ontario curriculum. For curricula in other parts of Canada or international countries, head to our Admissions Requirements website.
