Description:Build on your education and life experience with the Post-Graduate Diploma in Hospitality Management. Business specialists such as human resource managers, marketing professionals, accountants, and entrepreneurs are among Canada's top 10 highest paid personnel. The tourism sector may soon become the number one industry in BC; it already offers the most employment opportunities. There are currently 115,000 direct tourism jobs in BC.

The two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Hospitality Management will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in the ever-changing and competitive business world in Canada, specifically the hospitality industry. The Post Graduate Diploma in Hospitality Management includes a paid 4-month work term from May-September. Students will be given the opportunity to interview for positions in the hospitality industry either locally, in larger cities, or in resort areas. The work term is a required component of the Post Graduate Diploma and offers an opportunity to take your education abroad.

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
  •  Grade12 English 
English 12 with a grade of C+ or higher, or IELTS 6.5 overall band score, or equivalent on other internationally recognized English Language Proficiency Tests. Learn more about the accepted international language test scores. Applicants with 6.0 IELTS overall, with no band score less than 5.5, may be admitted to the program but will be required to take an English upgrading course, EASL 066, in the first semester.

International applicants must have completed a minimum of a 2-year diploma or Bachelor's degree from a recognized English speaking post-secondary institution. Please visit the website for complete program requirements.

  • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 79-80] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 213]
Application Notes : If your first language is not English, you must meet the following English Language Proficiency requirements for entry in to Selkirk College University Transfer, Diploma or Degree programs: completion of BC English 12, or equivalent; or completion, with a grade of "C+" or better, advanced core courses in the Selkirk College English Language Program and Provincial Level English 51; or submission of a TOEFL score of 213 (computer) or ibt 79-80 or better; or submission of an EIKEN Grade Pre -1; or submission of an acceptable score on the Language Proficiency Index score of 4 or better; or submission of an IELTS score of 6.5 (no band score lower than 5.5) or English 12 with grade of C+ or higher, or equivalent on other internationally recognized English Language Proficiency Tests. Applicants with 6.0 IELTS overall, with no band score less than 5.5, may be admitted to the program but will be required to take an English upgrading course, EASL 066, in the first semester.
