UBC strives to attract the best applicants from around the world to its programs. For outstanding applicants without other funding support UBC provides the International Tuition Award that will provide up to $3,200 tuition fee support each year, which will bring down the international tuition for research-based programs to almost the same amount that domestic students pay.

International Doctoral Fellowship
The International Doctoral Fellowship (IDF) program supports top international students who are starting UBC-V doctoral programs. The fellowship provides funding for a total of five years: a $30,000 stipend plus tuition for four years and a minimum $18,000 funding package (from the recipient's supervisor/department/Faculty, comprising awards, teaching assistantships and/or research assistantships) for the fifth year.
Four Year Doctoral Fellowship (4YF)
The Four Year Doctoral Fellowship (4YF) program will ensure UBC's best PhD, DMA, and MDPhD students are provided with financial support of at least $18,200 per year plus tuition for up to four years of their Doctoral studies.
