Vancouver Maple Leaf Language College (VLC), established in 1990, offers quality year round English as a Second Language training and is known worldwide for its comprehensive curriculum, professional and qualified teaching staff, and superior homestay program. VLC is also the first private BC ESL school to have a partnership with a public institution, this being the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

All VLC programs offer small classes, bi-weekly progress assessment, effective teaching methods and materials, 10 levels of study, and certificates upon course completion. A strict "English Only" policy is enforced in all programs and at all school events. VLC is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, a city with modern conveniences and spectacular scenery. All amenities such as theatres, hotels, and shopping centres are close by, along with all major transit services. Set on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, Vancouver offers mountains, lakes, rivers, islands, and beaches for all to visit and enjoy, and is known to many as the most beautiful city in the world.

VLC is a member of the Canadian Association of Private Language Schools (CAPLS) and registered by the British Columbia government through the Private Post-Secondary Education Commission and recognized by Immigration Canada.

Information Technology

Independent study units and computer stations are also available for students to use in completing school assignments and full Internet access is available free of charge. All VLC students are supplied with student cards enabling them to receive student concessions around the city and country.

VLC provides a variety of services to our students. Information services are available on local attractions, travelling, Visas, further study in Canada, etc. Counselling services are also available in areas from studying to living, making each student's experience in Canada a positive one. Furthermore, weekly activities are offered. This is where students can meet teachers, staff and Canadians interested in sharing experiences and having fun.

International Involvement

VLC maintains a strict cap on the percentage of students from any one nationality ensuring that the student body is well balanced. VLC's student body is primarily composed of international students from all parts of the world including Peru, Switzerland, Turkey, China, Argentina, Japan, Korea, Germany, Iran, Belgium, Santo Domingo, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Poland, Czech Republic, Italy, Mexico, France, Spain, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, French Canadian, Brazil, Chile, Finland, Hungary, Colombia, Thailand, Venezuela, and Malaysia.

VLC is situated in a modern building providing a bright, clean, air-conditioned learning environment. The roof top courtyard is a popular location for students to eat while enjoying a beautiful view of the city, mountains, and ocean.

A student lounge is available and provides students with a comfortable surrounding to practice their English skills with students from all over the world.
