Dynamic, modern, and highly learner-centred, we acknowledge all of our students as valued leaders of tomorrow, whose education and success are paramount to our institution. With campuses in Thunder Bay and Orillia, Ontario, and additional programming offered through our newest space, the Barrie STEM Hub, located in the heart of Barrie's waterfront district, students can expect the full university experience: academic excellence, abundant opportunities, and a rich variety of social and recreational activities. We also promise excellence in research; Lakehead is the proud host to a number of Canada Research Chairs and revolutionary facilities such as our world-renowned Paleo-DNA Laboratory and our Biorefining Research Institute. Our northern landscape presents ample opportunity for outdoor research, activities, and exploration. At Lakehead University, you'll join a community that will push you to defy limitations and challenge conventions. Meet some of the students, faculty, alumni, and members of the university community to understand why Lakehead was the right choice for them -- and you!
Lakehead offers 42 graduate programs in both academic and professional disciplines spanning seven different faculties! We are excited to expand our university presence to Barrie, Ontario, for the September 2026 intake with the introduction of the Lakehead University Barrie STEM Hub, offering graduate programs in Computer Science and Electrical & Computer Engineering. Lakehead is home to eight Canada Research Chairs in a variety of disciplines, and our facilities include the Advanced Technology and Academic Centre (which revolutionizes the interface of learning and technology), the Living Legacy Forest, the Paleo-DNA Laboratory, and the robotics laboratory, as well as a state-of-the-art instrumentation lab.

The Lakehead University Student Union (LUSU) offers a wide-variety of services, clubs, jobs, and volunteer opportunities throughout the year. It's the place to get involved, take action, and express your opinions.
Student Accessibility Services (SAS) coordinates services and facilitates the provision of academic accommodations for students with temporary and/or permanent disabilities/medical conditions. SAS staff collaborates with students, staff and faculty in developing strategies for a successful learning experience while maintaining the academic standards and integrity of the University. SAS offers a supportive atmosphere where our services are delivered in a respectful, confidential manner.
