(NOC 5131)

These comments apply to the career grouping of Creative and performing artists.

In view of the moderate growth rate in the industries in which they work, the number of producers, directors, choreographers and related occupations is expected to increase significantly in the next few years.

Job opportunities will result primarily from the need to replace producers, directors, choreographers and people in related occupations who will be retiring and, to a lesser degree, from employment increase. Other members of this occupation will also leave their jobs to work as managers in publishing, motion pictures, broadcasting and the performing arts (NOC 0512), and as college instructors or university professors (NOC 4131 and NOC 4121, respectively). In addition, there is some mobility between the various specialties in this occupation (film editors, directors of photography, stage directors, directors and producers) and with other occupations related to the performing arts: actors (NOC 5135), singers and musicians (NOC5133), dancers (NOC 5134), and so forth.
