Description:Graduates of this program become members of a professional health care team. They are able to work within, and manage any healthcare office with solid knowledge of medical terminology, along with a general background in anatomy and physiology. They acquire appropriate training in healthcare office procedures including, but not limited to, client care, appointment scheduling, manual and electronic charting, along with communication techniques, with strict emphasis on confidentiality following PHIPA (Personal Health Information Protection Act) guidelines. The graduates also have an understanding of healthcare billing through MOHLTC (Ministry of Health and Long Term Care-OHIP), along with third party and private billing. Graduates will have experience with EMR (electronic medical records software in several core areas of the program. As well, graduates are well-trained in transcription of a wide range of medical data and reports, with emphasis on accuracy.


This program targets students who have excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills. Accuracy is important along with the ability to organize and prioritize. The student must be considerate and work effectively in a multicultural environment. Good communication skills, both written and oral are also important. Excellent keyboarding skills are an asset.

    Successful completion of the Office Administration - General with a GPA of 2.0 or better.

      St. Clair College will continue to accept applications after the Equal Consideration Dates on a first-come, first-served basis. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of available seats (oversubscribed), completed applications received at ontariocolleges.ca by the Equal Consideration date will receive first consideration
