Description:This two year Fashion Design diploma program focuses on the sewing, drafting and crafting skills used in the fashion industry. Simulating industry standards and practices, students will become skilled in the essentials of pattern making, pattern grading, and clothing construction. Industrial machines will be used to sew garments and accessories. Core subject matter includes textiles, technical specifications and fashion illustration. Computerized pattern drafting and standard business applications are also part of the core curricula.

Admission Requirements


These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.

    Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with the majority of courses at the College (C), University (U), University/College (M) or Open (O) level OR Mature Student status (nineteen years of age or older as of the first day of classes and do not have an OSSD or equivalent). The ability to read/understand garment patterns and sewing skills at the basic level is recommended for success in this program.

      St. Clair College will continue to accept applications after the Equal Consideration Dates on a first-come, first-served basis. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of available seats (oversubscribed), completed applications received at by the Equal Consideration date will receive first consideration.
