Description:As an Early Childhood Care and Education Worker, you will contribute to your community by facilitating the growth and development of children.

You will learn how to create programs and environments that are child-centered, nurturing and rich for supporting child development. Our program incorporates a variety of teaching learning strategies including: case study and theoretical analysis, cooperative and experiential learning, and practical application of knowledge and skills in a six week practicum. Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
  •  Grade12 English 
Applicants are required to submit official transcripts from high school or post-secondary institutions (mailed directly from the Ministry of Education and educational institutions) showing the following: Grade 12 or its equivalent (consideration will be given to mature students), and English 12 or equivalent with a grade of "C" or better.
Test Scores:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Computer Based) [min. 213] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.0] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 79-80]
Application Notes : If your first language is not English, you must meet the following English Language Proficiency requirements for entry in to Selkirk College University Transfer, Diploma or Degree programs: completion of BC English 12, or equivalent; or completion, with a grade of "C+" or better, advanced core courses in the Selkirk College English Language Program and Provincial Level English 51; or submission of a TOEFL score of 213 (computer) or ibt 79-80 or better; or submission of an IELTS score of 6.0 or better; or submission of an EIKEN Grade Pre -1; or submission of an acceptable score on the Language Proficiency Index score of 4 or better. For Indian students coming through the SPP program, the IELTS requirement for diploma programs is 6.0 with no band less than 5.5.
