Description:The Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Technician program prepares graduates for entry-level positions in Electrical, Refrigeration, Sheet Metal, or Heating and Air Conditioning Industries. Technicians in these fields require sound mechanical and problem solving abilities.


This program is a blend of hands on experience and theoretical training. There are apprenticeship possibilities following graduation in sheet metal, electrical, or refrigeration and air conditioning. The curriculum follows the prescribed TSSA Gas Technician 3 and Gas Technician 2 syllabus providing an opportunity for certification (external) and students will be eligible for Refrigeration Handling Certification (Ozone Depletion Prevention (external)).

Admission Requirements

Prerequisites:*These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
  •  Grade12 Mathematics 
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with the majority of courses at the College (C), University (U), University/College (M) or Open (O) level OR Mature Student status (nineteen years of age or older as of the first day of classes and do not have an OSSD or equivalent) plus:
Grade 12 Math (C) or (U)
Senior level Physics recommended (C) or (U)

    St. Clair College will continue to accept applications after the Equal Consideration Dates on a first-come, first-served basis. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of available seats (oversubscribed), completed applications received at ontariocolleges.ca by the Equal Consideration date will receive first consideration.
