Look into university funding now. You don’t have to wait for an offer of admission.

A university education is a smart investment in your future. Bank loans, personal lines of credit and relatives who want to provide a hand up are perhaps the most frequently tapped resources. You may be surprised by other funding sources to help you reach your academic goals.

More than 50% of our first-year students receive an entrance scholarship. Scholarships are merit-based rewards for academic achievement, which means if you get the marks, you get the money. For keen students coming to Nipissing directly from high school, we offer Guaranteed Entrance Scholarships. They are renewable, so if you keep up the good work you will be rewarded every year. Awards and bursaries are given based on criteria other than grades ― your program of interest, level of financial need, or record of volunteerism. Simply fill out an application form by May 1. You may be eligible for options ranging from our $500 Entrance Bursaries, and $6,000 Schulich Scholarships to our $10,000 Chancellor’s Awards. Often there are other funding opportunities through the company you work for, your community, or through your parents’ employers.

If you enjoy additional earnings, finding a part-time job may work in your favour. Our WorkStudy program (NUWORK) provides career-related experience while supporting your financial needs. On-campus jobs provide up to 10 hours per week between September and April, allow you to work around your class schedule, and always place the priority on your studies.

Other well-known funding options are available through Government assistance programs like the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP). If you are an Ontario resident, a Canadian citizen and/or permanent resident in Canada you can apply. Even if you don’t receive OSAP, simply applying for it will qualify you for a 30% off tuition grant.
