From the Classroom to the Boardroom with a Business Technology Management Degree

When it comes to university, choosing the right program can be a challenge. You want one with high academic standards and real-world learning opportunities that will also lead to a career you’ll love. That’s where the Bachelor of Business Technology Management (BBTM) program at Wilfrid Laurier University comes in. This program delivers what it promises — a focus on business, technology, and management — while providing you with the in-demand knowledge and skills needed for a variety of careers.

What is Business Technology Management?

Business Technology Management (BTM) is offered through the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics at Laurier. The program combines business fundamentals with cutting-edge technology courses to ensure you graduate ready to lead in today’s technology-driven world.

You’ll explore core business and tech concepts in courses like Financial Accounting, Information Technology, Microeconomics, and Macroeconomics, while building management skills in courses like Strategic Management and Decision-Making and Business in a Networked Society. And you can take electives like Leadership Foundations to further build your management skills.

Classroom and campus experience

As a BTM student, you’ll learn from distinguished professors and industry executives in small, supportive classes that are ideal for faculty interaction. You’ll also develop case analysis skills that you can use beyond the classroom in case competitions throughout your degree.

The BBTM is offered exclusively at our Milton campus, which is in the Greater Toronto Area and easily accessed by public transit. And while the Milton campus may be our newest campus, you’ll still have access to the academic resources and student supports that help all Laurier students thrive throughout university.

Co-op: learn, earn and build your future

Hands-on experience is a cornerstone of the BTM program. You can apply for co-op at the end of your first year and complete 12 months of full-time, paid work experience during your degree. This means that, by the time you graduate, you’ll already have a year of work experience on your resumé, valuable Canadian work experience and a strong professional network. Plus, your co-op experience will also help you build confidence as you apply your classroom knowledge to a fast-paced business environment.

We offer one of the biggest co-op programs in Canada, with over 1,000 employers who recruit co-op students each year. You could be completing your co-op terms with major companies and industry leaders, like CIBC, Royal Bank of Canada, Sun Life Financial, Scotiabank, Manulife, and more.

See your future

Nearly every organization, across every industry, needs leaders who can navigate both business challenges and digital innovation. Graduates of the program have gone on to land roles in project management, IT consulting, enterprise architecture and more. Plus, according to Talent.com, the average salary for a BBTM graduate working in Canada is over $140,000 CAD.

As you continue to research university options, be sure to add Business Technology Management to your list to discover everything this program can help you learn and achieve.
