Develop Your English Language Skills at Sheridan in Ontario, Canada

One of the best parts of pursuing your post-secondary in Canada is the many opportunities you'll have to practice your English language skills with native English speakers. Embedding in an environment where English is the main language of school, work, and life, will ensure that your command of the language will improve.

Still, achieving academic or conversational fluency in English is much easier with specialized lessons, which is where Sheridan comes in. English as a Second Language (ESL) programs are offered at two of Sheridan's Greater Toronto Area campuses, meaning you'll learn English in one of the busiest, most populated parts of Canada.

Topics of instruction

You'll cover all the essentials of a well-rounded education in English language skills, including:

  • Listening and speaking
  • Grammar
  • Pronunication
  • Reading and writing
  • Business communication
  • and more!

5 levels of ESL instruction

No matter your current skill level in English, Sheridan can help you improve. Sheridan offers five (5) levels of instruction — you'll be placed into the level that best fits your current English skills. These classes are offered full-time, on-campus, ensuring you get a quality education, and plenty of time to practice what you learn.

The first four levels are defined below. Each level of instruction requires the completion of two modules. Each module takes 7 weeks of study at 25 hours per week.

  • Foundations
  • Pre-Intermediate
  • Intermediate
  • Advanced

The final level of instruction is the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program.
