Discover the Right Program for You

Take a short quiz to explore which Waterloo program best matches your interests, strengths, and goals.

Choosing a university program can feel overwhelming, so it's important to know your interests, goals, and priorities. That's why one of the best ways to narrow down your options is to think more about who you are.

Are you interested in learning how things work?

Would you like a career focused on helping people?

Do you enjoy building things and bringing your ideas to life?

Rather than grouping yourself into subjects like science, math, and arts — Waterloo goes beyond this traditional approach. You're not just a “math person” or a “science person” — you're a person with unique interests, goals, and ways of seeing the world.

Taking less than a few minutes to complete, this quiz will provide you with results that give you a better idea of what academic field suits you best! You'll be asked questions about your interests and preferences to find which program “theme” you most align with.

You may fit into the “The Curious Investigator” theme if you're curious, observant, and love to ask big questions — or “The Compassionate Helper” if you're caring, motivated, and want to help people live happier healthier lives. No matter which category you get, the point of the quiz is to give you a fresh perspective on the next step in your academic career.

Ideally, you'd find a program that checks all the boxes.

✓ It aligns with your values and goals.

✓ You're genuinely interested in the subject.

✓ It opens doors to future career opportunities.

At Waterloo, we make this easy, with over 100 programs to choose from; you'll have plenty of opportunities to find a program that aligns with your specific taste. With the world's leading co-op program, you'll also have the chance to test different career paths to figure out what works best for you.
