OUAC is now accepting applications to York for Fall 2027!
At York, you can shape your degree around what's important to you.
- Seeking a diverse, supportive, and engaged community, where you can feel at home?
- Looking to combine your studies with practical work experience like co-op?
- Want to be at the heart of the action, close to Toronto's restaurants, festivals, sporting events and concerts?
At York, you can find all this, and more, while building a university experience around your interests and goals.
But first, you'll need to apply. Follow these simple steps to prepare your application to York!
Step 1: Find the right program for you
Explore more than 150 undergraduate degree programs, with courses and hands-on learning opportunities that can help you work toward your academic and career goals.
Use York's Program Search tool to compare programs by area of interest, co-op availability, faculty or campus.
Pro-tip: Can't decide between two programs? You can apply to more than one! York University allows you to apply to multiple programs at the same time, as well as combine majors and minors once you're admitted.
Step 2: Know your requirements
Admission requirements can vary according to your program and the high school curriculum you completed. You may need to provide transcripts, proof that you completed high school and evidence that you meet the required academic standard.
Depending on the program you're applying to, you might also need additional prerequisite courses or a supplementary application, like a video interview, portfolio or audition.
You can use York's international student admission requirements page to select your high school curriculum and intended program of study at York. This will help you identify the requirements that apply to your educational background.
Pro-tip: Check to see if you need to take a language test to gain admission by reviewing the language proficiency requirements.
Step 3: Submit your application
Once you've got your requirements in hand, it's time to apply. York University makes the application process simple by offering two ways to submit:
- 1. Through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre: This is best if you're applying to multiple Ontario universities.
- 2. Directly through the York University Application: Perfect if York is your one-and-only choice.
It's important to stay on top of these application deadlines to ensure your application gets considered:
Please note that we will continue to accept and assess applications until each program is full. To ensure adequate time to apply for a study permit (if applicable), we recommend that you apply as early as possible. Some programs have exceptions to these deadlines; see the York site for details.
Once you apply, you'll receive an email from York with login details for MyFile — an online portal where you can track your application status and upload required documents.
Pro-tip: Start gathering your documents early, especially if they need to be translated or certified. York might ask for things like your official transcripts, proof of English proficiency and for some programs, supplementary materials like a portfolio, audition or video interview.
