Exploring Careers in Healthcare for Diverse Students

Canada's in need of more skilled healthcare practitioners, so one doctor is doing her part to bring new, interested students into the fold.

Dr. Onye Nnorom, better known as Dr. O, is a family doctor and an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. Dr. O was born in Montreal to parents of Nigerian and Trinidadian heritage, and is committed to supporting the next generation of healthcare students.

Healthcaring Differently

To meet this goal, Dr. O launched Healthcaring Differently, a social media movement intended to inspire a diverse new generation of students to pursue careers in the healthcare sector.

Dr. O's professional work has focused on marginalized communities, with a particular emphasis on Black populations, and Healthcaring Differently continues these efforts. Black, Indigenous, 2SLGBTQ+, racialized, differently-abled; Healthcaring Differently is for you!

Every Tuesday, Dr. O hosts a live stream focused on one aspect of the healthcare industry. Hear from nurses, doctors, and other healthcare pros on their backgrounds and experiences. Discover what it takes to become a member of Canada's growing cohort of diverse healthcare workers.
