George Brown Launches New Computer Programming and Low-Code Programs

George Brown College recently launched the Computer Programming and Computer Programming — Low Code diploma programs, and both are accepting applications for a September 2024 start. These two-year programs provide a great blend of theoretical learning and practical, real-world experience, so graduates are ready to succeed in today’s workforce.

Computer Programming

Computer Programming (T186) prepares students for potential career paths, including software or web development, quality assurance analysis, technical support, and others.

“The program curriculum covers a range of programming languages, software development methodologies, database management, and web development,” said Centre for Arts, Design and Information Technology Associate Dean Albert Danison. “Students then put their software development skills into action through projects, labs and real-world simulations.”

Students develop practical and soft skills, such as critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving, that will prepare them for workplace success.

Computer Programming — Low-Code

The Computer Programming — Low-Code program prepares students for specialized roles in low-code development, such as application designers or software consultants.

The program provides an industry-relevant curriculum, so the skills you develop in class are the ones employers need. “The emphasis on low-code development and process automation sets the program apart, with dedicated training in platforms like Microsoft Power Apps,” Danison said.

This program also prepares students to pursue further education and pathways to relevant advanced diploma and postgraduate programs.
